Session 18:00 to 8:50 | Agency Anti-Fraud Controls & CommunicationsCatherine Hom, CFE, IFDR, CFCI & Brandon McIlwain, CFE, CISA This session will provide participants with an overview of agency anti-fraud controls and communications. The agenda includes an overview of the Department of Revenue and its Fraud and Unclaimed Property programs, examples of fraud schemes observed by government agencies, and an exploration of the Fraud Triangle to understand why people commit fraud. Additionally, there will be guidance on identifying manipulated and misrepresented documents, and instructions on reporting fraud events to other agency programs to stop the fraud event, as well as to Executive Leadership to consider internal control adjustments. |

Aram Chair of Business Ethics, Gonzaga University The ACFE Code of Ethics requires CFEs to develop a set of professional virtues. In this session, we will discuss what those virtues are, why they are a part of the ACFE Code of Ethics and explore what the practice of those virtues might mean in a few cases. This session counts towards the two (2) required hours of ethics CPE training. |
